What is the difference
between “Sugar Free” and “No Sugar Added”?
A sugar free
product contains less than .5 grams of sugar per serving. The
status of sugar free is very hard to attain especially due to
the natural sugars contained in many ingredients. A no sugar
added products does not have any sugar added to the product. It
only contains sugar from the natural sugars contained in the
ingredients in the product. In ZamLows case, the eggs, vanilla,
etc. all contain natural sugars. Believe it or not, the one
ingredient that contains the most natural sugars is the pecans
themselves. We chose to have the best quality product on the
market. Well, that demands a large portion of pecans for a pecan
pie. Our traditional southern pecan pie contains 7 ounces of
pecans. Therefore, it attains the no sugar added status versus
the sugar free status. It is ZamLows goal to cater to
individuals needing to eliminate or reduce the amount of sugar
in their diet. Our primary goal is to achieve the sugar free
status. If not, and only if for quality purpose sake, we will
attain the no sugar added status. In addition, though, it is our
goal to keep the sugars in our products that are classified as
no sugar added to a minimum, e.g., one sugar in our traditional
southern pecan pie, in order for our products to continue to be
beneficial to diabetics, dieters, ADD/ADHD diagnosed patients,
gastric bypass patients, the dental conscious….anyone wanting to
eliminate or reduce the sugars in their diet! |
